Kobalt Label Services Inks Deal with King Charles

Kobalt Label Services (KLS) announced today they have signed a label services agreement with British singer and songwriter King Charles. The agreement will cover the artist’s forthcoming album release, due in 2016 via his own imprint Buffalo Gang, with Charles retaining full ownership and control of his rights. The agreement will encompass the full range of services which KLS offers its clients, including digital distribution, physical distribution, marketing, international marketing and synch licensing.

King Charles is the alias for Charles Costa, a songwriter and classically trained singer and performer from London. Charles initially made himself known through touring with artists such as Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale, and Mumford and Sons, and released a critically acclaimed debut album, LoveBlood, in 2012.

Charles is also the first-ever Brit to win the International Songwriting Competition in Nashville, TN. Charles’ forthcoming album, due for release in the first half of 2016, has been produced by Marcus Mumford.

Vincent Clery-Melin, Kobalt Label Services Managing Director, UK and Europe said, “We’re incredibly excited to be working with Charles, and are thankful that he’s chosen Kobalt as his partner to release his music whilst he retains ownership and control of his rights and campaign. He is a unique talent and his forthcoming album is one of the best pieces of music we’ve heard all year!”
